St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center's Wellness Place, offers free health information, education and screening to the public. The Wellness Place creates an awareness of health behaviors that can promote wellness and prevent disease and illness in the community.

A Registered Professional Nurse is available six days a week to talk with you about your health related concerns. Our services include:

• Monitoring blood pressure and identifying heart disease risk factors.
• A scale for weight in private.
• An eye chart is available for brief evaluation.
• Referrals to St. Joseph's Health Care services and providers.
• Guidance for obtaining other services and information.
• General health and medication information from nurses and pharmacists.
• Literature and videos on health issues and diseases.
• Special programs on asthma and diabetes.

We also provide community education programs and health screening at special times. The screenings that are available regularly are Pulmonary and Cardio-Vascular. Cholesterol screening is provided at scheduled times. Other programs include smoking cessation, babysitter training and CPR.

We cannot provide diagnosis or treatment for any condition, nor can we provide emergency medical care within the mall. If a problem is detected during a health screen, we will refer you back to your primary care physician or a referral can be made to a new physician if you so choose.

The nursing staff also participates in Worksite Wellness at local industries and health fairs within our community. We are able to provide blood pressure screening with heart disease risk factor screening and other wellness information. Cholesterol screening is an option at some facilities.
